About This Show
The SoulHaus Gallery space is a new gallery curated by the Koger Center and Preach Jacobs, located on the third floor of the Koger Center.
The current artists exhibiting in the SoulHaus Gallery at the Koger Center are Sanford Greene and Anthony Lewis.
Sanford Greene has worked professionally in illustration and related industries for over 18 years. Greene has worked for mainline publishers such as Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Image Comics. He helped reshape the Marvel Comics characters Power Man and Iron Fist, and did illustrative work for Black Panther and Luke Cage. His most recent work is the 2 time Eisner and Ringo Award-winning Bitter Root, an action/horror fantasy set during the Harlem Renaissance and published by Image Comics. Bitter Root is slated to become a film produced by Ryan Coogler, the director of acclaimed movies such as Black Panther and Sinners, and directed by Oscar Award-winning Regina King. He currently teaches illustration courses at Benedict College, where he also received his B.F.A. in Fine Art.
Anthony Lewis is a South Carolina based abstract figurative painter and photographer. Lewis studied at the University of South Carolina’s School of Visual Art and Design where he graduated with his B.F.A. in Studio Art, his concentration in painting. He likes to explore the good, the bad, and the injustices around the Black experience in the U.S. such as mass incarceration, Black on Black crime, police brutality, mental health, suicide, the beauty of being Black, and the every day struggles dating back to the early 1900s. Lewis enjoys the exploration of the creative process so he can stretch the limit of his ingenuity, and admires the thought of not being confined in an innovative box.
