The USC School of Music is thrilled to present father and son duo Edgar and George Meyer for a very special Carolina performance on Saturday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Johnson Hall at the Darla Moore School of Business.
Hailed by The New Yorker as “...the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively un-chronicled history of his instrument,” multi-Grammy and MacArthur Genius Award-winning bassist Edgar joins his son George Meyer on stage to perform original compositions for violin and double bass duo alongside traditional fiddle tunes. At the heart of the program will be their new co-written duo, co-commissioned by Chamber Music Northwest and Bravo! Vail in 2019.
Meet the Artists
Students and the public are invited to a FREE informal discussion and Q&A with George and Edgar Meyer Q&A on Friday, February 16, at 4 p.m. in the School of Music Recital Hall. Moderated by Professors Craig Butterfield and Claire Bryant, this informal discussion will focus on the idea that all music is related. The study of seemingly disparate styles tends not only to be inherently rewarding but also to reveal that they have more in common than not. The discussion will include a few practical tools to introduce classical musicians to thinking about other kinds of music.
