Stagehands: Want to see how the magic of Broadway happens firsthand? Be a part of the load-in or load-out crew!  Stagehands are hired as part time University of South Carolina staff and scheduled on an as needed basis for larger performances.

Interning with the Koger Center for the Arts

For students interested in a career working in the entertainment industry, the Koger Center for the Arts offer*s many opportunities to gain experience in different areas. Current internships are: 

  • Arts Administration: Working with the building directors assisting with contracts, promoter communication, collecting and organizing statistical data, and other opportunities as they may arise. 
  • Box Office: Working in the box office under the direction of the box office managers to learn box office software while selling tickets and interacting with patrons both in person and on the phone.
  • Patron Services: Working under the direction of the house manager to learn event planning, hiring and scheduling staff, ticket taking, greeting patrons, and other opportunities as they may arise. 
  • PR & Marketing: Working with the marketing director on marketing and public relations – social media, photography, creating content, press releases, booking television and radio appearances, and other opportunities as they may arise. 
  • Technical: Working with the technical staff on advancing productions, planning for events, working backstage to learn lighting, audio, and basic stagecraft, and other opportunities as they may arise.

While these are the five primary focuses of the Koger Center internships, we are open to providing other opportunities based on the interests and talents of the student. Internships are primarily for college students aged 18 and older and can take place during the fall semester, spring semester, or over the summer. Internships range from 6-40 hours per week and can be for college credit or just for experience. Apply online or email a cover letter and resume to: kogercenter@sc.edu.
